Participation in the Collaborative Gathering “Lume e Gandería extensiva”

On 29 November, Nodfyr was invited to participate in a gathering organised by Puraga – Association of Purebred Galician Horse Breeders, in collaboration with Organization Rapa das Bestas de Sabucedo.

Nodfyr was represented by directors Diego de Luis and Henrique Mira Godinho. The latter was invited to give a presentation on ‘The coexistence of fire and grazing,’ in which he highlighted the LIFE Maronesa project, of which he is the manager, as well as the research he has been conducting on the use of fire to produce richer pastures for mountain livestock in the regions of Alvão, Cinfães and Pitões das Júnias.

Then there was time for a presentation prepared by the Forest Agents of District XVI ‘Deza-Tabeirós’ of Aprafoga, who presented the prescribed burning work they have been developing over the last 20 years, and the legislative and bureaucratic obstacles to responding to the demands of farmers and livestock breeders.

At the end, there was time for a pleasant and lively debate among the approximately 30 participants who decided to attend these collaborative sessions.
